At Disney’s D23 event, a bombshell announcement was made: Marvel is fully committing to Doctor Doom, revealing that the next Fortnite season will revolve around the iconic comic book villain.
In a highly anticipated move, Marvel stunned fans at San Diego Comic-Con by making the monumental announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would be stepping down from his iconic role as Tony Stark/Iron Man. The possibility of a return to the MCU… not as Tony Stark, but rather as fan-favorite formidable villain Doctor Doom. Epic Games has unveiled that Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 4 will be dubbed “Absolute Doom”, an apparent nod to the iconic comic book villain Doctor Doom, hinting at the potential introduction of new skins for a range of popular Marvel characters alongside the metallic-confronted nemesis.
Upon proper activation of the sports battle cross feature, players will have the opportunity to unlock the highly anticipated Gwenpool costume, a beloved addition to the game’s roster. Players can also acquire additional skins for specific characters, including Conflict Machine, Emma Frost, Mysterio, and Shuri, as well as a Wolverine-inspired peely suit and a Captain America-themed Jonesy costume. Doomguy, the iconic character from the Doom franchise, will become a playable skin through Battle Pass Quests in September.
The trailer also offers a glimpse into the array of new abilities you’ll utilize in matches as you strive for that coveted dub. Captain America’s shield defends precisely as expected, while Shuri’s claws enable you to efficiently slice and dismember your adversaries. With access to Iron Man’s cutting-edge technology, you can not only soar around using his iconic boots but also unleash vital blasts to take down enemies as needed. Alternatively, you can harness the might of War Machine’s formidable armor for a more grounded approach.
The trailer hinted at the imminent arrival of The Unbelievable Four in Fortnite, with no concrete release date revealed. Meanwhile, The Incredibles are also slated to make a splash, although they will not be part of the Marvel universe – a distinction that becomes moot given Disney’s acquisition of Marvel.
Don’t worry, you won’t have long to wait until the brand-new season kicks off on August 16, just a week away.
