This November, Dumb Methods to Die is reimagining its chaotic gameplay in virtual reality with the launch of a brand-new multiplayer social gathering game on Meta Quest 3.
Initially launched in 2012 as a rail security marketing campaign for Metro Trains Melbourne, Dumb Ways to Die has become one of the most unlikely hit franchises thus far, evolving into a long-running series of quirky and endearing video games appealing to gamers of all ages. A narrative that balances warning and wry humor, set to make its virtual reality debut with a fresh collection of mini-games.
Developed by PlaySide Studios, Dumb Methods: Free for All presents an unconventional title that immediately piques interest. Preliminary plans indicate that the initial 50 minigames will accommodate solo play or cooperative experiences with up to five friends. Two forthcoming free DLC expansions, each featuring an additional 25 minigames, are slated for release in December and January respectively. As early as January, gamers will have over 100 ways to evade the dreaded “cute” death in their gaming experiences.
The framing mechanism weaving this complex tapestry is unexpectedly an embarkation point, rather than a preparation station, yet it’s a veritable airport and tropical paradise bursting with diverse routes to mortality. Gamers can unlock a range of cosmetic items for their Bean character’s “Responsibility-Free Kiosk” through engaging minigames, while each individual bean can explore its own miniature hub area, unlocking wearable accessories along the way? The game offers seamless support for both standing and seated playstyles, eliminating the need for room-scale motion controls.
“Dumb Methods: Free for All is set to debut on November 7, exclusively available on the Meta Quest 3 platform for a price of $20, with pre-ordering options now open.”
