Has failed to gain traction in Japan, which is hardly surprising given its previous lack of promotion there. The newly released title has, however, made a strong start in the region. According to data released by Famitsu on weekly hardware and physical game sales in Japan, the best-selling game in the region last week claimed the top two positions in the charts following its launch.
Notably, Nintendo’s Switch edition holds the top position, boasting a staggering 641,000+ available items, while the PlayStation 5 model trails closely behind with over 180,000 options. The sport’s launch has collectively provided more than 821,000 physical copies, setting a new milestone as the largest sport launch in Japan following last year’s release. Although these charts do not consider digital sales, it appears likely that overall sales may have exceeded one million units in Japan shortly after the game’s release.
The Nintendo Switch’s hardware sales have surged, reclaiming its position as the top-selling console in the region, with a impressive 62,000 units sold last week. Sales of the PlayStation 5 experienced a significant decline from last week, with over 23,000 units sold compared to more than 88,000 units the previous week.
