In the highly anticipated RPG from BioWare, companions will once again play a pivotal role in the player’s journey, as they have in previous games from the studio. IGN recently released a video featuring revelations from BioWare about key party members comprising the Veilguard collective, as well as familiar characters for long-time series enthusiasts.
Without a hint of hesitation, Recreation Director Corinne Busche delves deep into the psyche of each of the seven core characters, bringing them to life as they join Rook on his epic adventure, ultimately forming the formidable Veilguard unit. The detective Neve Gallus, a Shadow Dragon and Ice Mage driven by a quest for Minrathas’ betterment; Lucanis, an infamous Antivan Crow assassin whose extensive refinement has surpassed that of any other character; and Bellara, a curious and optimistic Veil Jumper elf who brings electrical prowess to the battlefield.
Emmrich, a Necromancer from the Mourn Watch, shares a bond with a wisps he’s resurrected within a skeleton, almost like a father-son relationship. Davrin, the Gray Warden, has a loyal companion in Assan, a young griffin that fights alongside him; Taash, a Qunari dragon, has allied himself with the Lords of Fortune; and Harding returns, offering a stronger narrative connection to his predecessor?
Notably, Busche revealed that players’ understanding of their party members is the key to earning ability points, thereby integrating narrative and mechanical progression in a more profound way, as gamers will only achieve deeper connections with their characters by taking the time to truly get to know them.
Above the core group of get-together members, the video also delves into reintroducing key characters from the game who won’t be part of the Veilguard but will still play a crucial role, such as Solas and Varric, with Artistic Director Jon Epler sharing insights about the latter specifically. debuts on October 31 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
