Five years since 2K officially confirmed that Cloud Chamber Games was working on the next installment, the game’s announcement remains shrouded in mystery. Yet, it appears we’ve received our first glimpse – albeit brief – of the highly anticipated title through unofficial channels.
MP1st allegedly secured a screenshot from an unnamed 2K visual effects artist, purportedly showcasing the supposed game’s visuals. The undersurface of the image includes a title that, according to prior experiences, is believed to be the codename for the game currently in development. Allegedly, the picture originates from a 2021 demo build of the game featured in an internal showcase reel, showcasing the player wielding the Ricochet Shotgun.
Within the provided screenshot, it appears that the participant has the ability to carry a total of three weapons, as indicated by the UI. On the bottom left, symbols suggest the presence of skills, which are likely operating on cooldowns, departing from the Plasma and Vigor meters featured in earlier titles. The hourglass and stopwatch symbols on the UI seem to suggest that participants can access time-based features.
While considering cost savings in mind, it’s noteworthy that if this image indeed stems from a primitive build of the game approximately three years ago, there’s a high probability that many aspects may have evolved significantly since then.
Previous experiences had long suggested that the setting for (whatever it ultimately came to be known as) would be a fictional Antarctic city called Borealis, nestled in the snow-capped landscape of the 1960s. This month, Cloud Chamber Games announced accelerated growth on their title, with the studio actively seeking talent across multiple roles. Gain in-depth knowledge through this resource.
