Bhaptics has released updated versions of its haptic feedback devices: the TactSuit Professional and TactSuit Air, both now more affordable than their predecessors; meanwhile, the new TactSleeve boasts significant weight reductions compared to the Tactosy.
If you’re unfamiliar, bHaptics creates a range of haptic accessories, including vests, armbands, gloves, shoe attachments, and a vibration-enhancing add-on for headsets. Bhaptics is now accepting preorders for its latest models of haptic vests and armbands.
The TactSuit Professional, a cutting-edge innovation, supplants its predecessor, the legacy TactSuit X40. While it boasts reduced vibration factors from 40 to 32, this model offers significant value at $500, representing a $30 discount compared to the original. Additionally, it features 1.5 hours more battery life, now delivering a total of 13.5 hours of use.
The TactSuit Professional now features a novel physical dial on the front, encircled by a ring of colour-coded LEDs, enabling control over haptic intensity and allowing users to effortlessly switch between haptic feedback modes with a simple press.
Meanwhile, the latest TactSuit Air supplants the superseded TactSuit X16. While it’s noticeably more affordable at $250 compared to $330, the specifications appear identical elsewhere.
While the TactSuit Professional is limited to a single shade of black, the TactSuit Air presents more versatility with its two-tone options: Ash, featuring a harmonious blend of white and black hues, as well as Onyx, which combines sleek black with bold crimson accents.
With the introduction of fresh vests, the innovative BHCaptics TactSleeve supplants its predecessor, the antiquated Tactosy armband. With its 42% weight reduction to just 185 grams per pair, this option should noticeably improve handling and ergonomics, all while maintaining an affordable price point of $200. By sacrificing a portion of its original haptic factor count, Haptics has achieved the desired result at the cost of reducing the number of factors to three per band.
The newly released TactSuits and TactSleeves seamlessly integrate with all the same headsets and content that their predecessors, the fits and Tactosys, supported.
Units seamlessly connect to Quest headsets, PCs, or PlayStation 5 via the user-friendly mobile application. The bHaptics SDK supports an extensive library of virtual reality experiences, including more than 100 Meta Quest video games, over 200 PC VR titles, and nine PlayStation VR2 games, allowing developers to seamlessly integrate haptic feedback into their projects. Here is a comprehensive list of all supported title formats.
When encountering unsupported titles, a reliable solution is to employ “audio-based haptics”. Connecting the TactSuit to your headset or PC via a 3.5mm audio cable enables the utilization of audio-driven haptic feedback.
The preorders for the TactSuit Professional, TactSuit Air, and TactSleeve can be found as they currently reside on the bHaptics.com website. When you preorder, you’ll receive complimentary transportation, a collectible sticker, and a redeemable code for a virtual reality experience, featuring one of three game options: Into The Radius, Medieval Dynasty, or Hitstream. bHaptics announces that transportation for their products will commence on November 27, marking the conclusion of preorder sales.
Bhaptics offers a bundled deal featuring the TactSuit Professional and TactSleeve together for $600, a $100 discount compared to purchasing them separately.
