Respawn Entertainment and Digital Arts are once more walking back from controversy surrounding their recent changes to how free-to-play battle royale shooter Apex Legends’ battle pass system will function moving forward.
Starting with Season 22, Fortnite will introduce a new format, offering two battle passes per season, each featuring 60 tiers of rewarding content. Additionally, the announcement clarified that Apex Cash would not be redeemable for battle passes, effectively making them exclusive to direct purchases.
The controversy surrounding this aspect of the game has been met with significant criticism, prompting a response from both writer EA and developer Respawn, who have since reconsidered their original decision.
“We’ve taken your feedback to heart,” the press release tweeted, highlighting transparency in its communication process. As a token of appreciation for your dedication and loyalty, with the conclusion of Season 22, we’re reintroducing the freedom to purchase the Premium Battle Pass for 950 Apex Coins. “We take responsibility for potentially mismanaging the Battle Go modifications; a lesson learned.”
As Season 22 launches on August 6, gamers will have the opportunity to secure the initial battle move of the season by completing a series of easy in-game tasks. When the second Battle Pass moves out on September 17, players will also have the option to purchase it for 950 Apex Coins, allowing them to earn enough rewards to afford future Battle Passes.
Respawn is committed to prioritizing the health and stability of its game, ensuring seamless gameplay experiences for players. To achieve this, the company will focus on fostering clear and consistent communication, providing gamers with a more predictable and enjoyable experience moving forward.
“Moving forward, we commit to being more timely, transparent, and consistent in our communication with you.” “Prioritizing what matters most to you, we focus on cheating prevention, game stability, and delivering top-notch quality of life updates that enhance your overall experience.” We’re elevating our aspirations and recognizing their importance precisely for this reason.
When Season 22 launches on August 6, details regarding various fixes related to these points will be forthcoming. Patch notes providing specifics will precede them by a day, appearing on August 5.
The game is available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
