Motion Hero is poised to catapult me into the spotlight as a film star on Quest next month.
Developed by Quick Journey Games, Motion Hero allows players to become the protagonist in five cinematic films across various genres, including adventure, heist, and more. Time speeds up when transitioning between actions, with each film divided into four acts comprising five scenes apiece. To commemorate the upcoming launch of We Speak, the studio has released a detailed look at the inaugural film, “Fists of Ash,” touted as a heartfelt homage to the classic martial arts cinema genre.
Taking a success resets the act, but once filming’s accomplished, each degree unlocks a Director’s Cut model that ensures “new, even tougher and wackier scenarios”. Hidden collectibles can be found throughout every stage; there’s also a ‘Relaxed Mode’ for those seeking a lighter challenge, while the “Weekly Shot Challenge” combines four random acts into one film, allowing players to compete for the highest rating.
We were thoroughly enthralled by Motion Hero during our Gamescom 2024 preview coverage. Despite initial reservations about degree selection, our team saw significant potential in Quick Journey’s forthcoming game, suggesting a compelling experience.
While Motion Hero won’t revolutionize its approach to action sequences like Superhot VR, it does offer a delightfully cheesy take on the genre, making for an entertaining ride. While the slow-motion method provides ample time to consider your surroundings, it still demands swift reactions as successfully evading bullets in a prolonged manner remains thrilling.
Motion Hero launches on the Meta Quest platform at a competitive price point of $20 on December 12.
