Acer announces the launch of its fastest gaming monitor yet, a pioneering display that sets a new standard with a breathtaking 600Hz refresh rate. At the IFA commerce showcase, we were given an unprecedented hands-on experience with the newly launched device, where it first debuted, but Acer inadvertently botched its demonstration.
While this top-notch gaming display boasts impressive specs necessary for breathtaking competitive gaming, it was connected to a gaming laptop capable of only producing a 240Hz output, rendering the monitor’s full potential untapped.
Typically, a 240Hz refresh rate is considered commendable and more than sufficient for most gaming purposes. While indulging in immersive gaming experiences with your cutting-edge flagship monitor, it’s likely that you wouldn’t want to limit its impressive speed to less than half its maximum potential?
The fact that the sport Acer had selected for loading onto the system was Horizon Forbidden West did little to facilitate a smooth experience. That’s a tantalizing title, to be sure, but its slow-burning pace is undeniable.
Despite these limitations, it is possible to partially grasp the genuinely swift essence of the show, which owes much of its claimed 0.1ms gray-to-gray response time a visible lack of ghosting or smearing in its low ranges. The TN panel exhibited a surprisingly vibrant and punchy appearance, defying common perceptions that TN screens are inherently less captivating than modern gaming displays, despite their excellent viewing angles.
This 24.1-inch monitor’s Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080) may not be particularly impressive in terms of picture quality or sharpness, but it does provide a suitable fit for fast-paced first-person shooter games like Counter-Strike: Source and Valorant.
The remaining portion of the display features an unmistakable Acer Predator aesthetic, characterized by bold, angular lines and a prominent V-shaped stand adorned with sharp spikes. The monitor features a robust connectivity suite, comprising one DisplayPort 1.4 input and two HDMI 2.0 ports. Meanwhile, its stand boasts peak adjustability, allowing for seamless positioning on any desk or workspace.
The Acer Nitro XV240 F6 is set to debut in China this fall 2024, but its global release will not occur until the first quarter of 2025, with North America and Europe being among the regions that will have to wait until then. Priced at $599.99 in the United States, €899 in Europe, and RMB 4,999 for customers in China.
While we expect great things from this show, take a closer look at our top-rated esports gaming monitor, the MSI MPG 271QRX, which seamlessly combines a 360Hz refresh rate with the lightning-quick response time of its OLED panel.
