The narrative’s tempo also falters as the creatures’ echolocation and “vibrations” techniques become more prominent in the latter part of the story. While navigating a challenging environment with overwhelming background noise, the added structure proves beneficial in preventing participants from moving forward, except for occasional turns. As the cacophony intensifies, the once-peaceful atmosphere devolves into a chaotic maelstrom, with the creatures’ relentless chanting of “Crimson Gentle, Green Gentle” grating on the senses like fingernails on a chalkboard.
The narrative’s credibility is called into question; after centuries of echolocation capabilities, wouldn’t the creatures have employed them earlier?
