Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii is set to release next month, and you can get a sneak peek today as SEGA showcases more of what’s in store for the swashbuckling Majima adventure.
If you’ve been living under a rock, Pirate Yakuza was finally unveiled at September’s RGG Summit as a spin-off akin to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, but with significantly more pirate-themed elements incorporated throughout. It is scheduled to launch on February 21, 2025.
Earlier than that, as discussed, it is now displaying on today’s RGG Like a Dragon Direct, which will start at ? As the moment arrives, simply click the play button on the video above to instantly embark on a thrilling pirate adventure.
As for what’s in store, we’re excited to reveal new options for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza’s modern-day pirate adventure in Hawaii. For starters, pre-ordering the game will grant you access to Ichiban Kasuga and his trusty sidekick Nancy the crayfish as part of your crew, alongside two additional Majima outfits inspired by our beloved protagonist.
While waiting, the game features a personal preview trailer for The Direct, showcasing an extended sequence of the ship-to-ship combat unveiled during the October Xbox Insider Preview, as well as intense moments of hand-to-hand combat against enemy forces.
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii draws upon various locations and settings from Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, transporting the story to Hawaii after Majima’s enigmatic arrival there, where he has lost his memory and encounters Noah Wealthy, a young boy, with some fresh additions incorporated into the narrative.
Following the events of Infinite Wealth, the narrative unfolds in the aftermath of Ichiban Kasuga’s decisive action against the sinister Palekana cult, effectively bringing their nefarious plans to a halt. Discovering the sports world’s connection to Hawaii, players will encounter a map, alongside Madlantis, the stronghold of pirate king Raymond Lawsley, played by AEW wrestler Samoa Joe, as well as Wealthy Island, where the adventure commences.
While it’s difficult to fully appreciate the game yet, I’m excited about its potential; currently, it ranks among my top two most anticipated releases of 2025, alongside a lesser-known title that may surprise you.
