As the CES 2025 showcase draws near, Geekom is eager to unveil its latest innovations, with just a few short weeks separating us from the big reveal. The manufacturer may be showcasing three recently released machines at the desk, including their new AMD Ryzen model, which appears to be an improbable budget gaming option, boasting a remarkably potent graphics processing unit.
In the realm of gaming mini PCs, a winning formula has emerged, drawing inspiration from perfect handheld designs; specifically, AMD dominates this space with its impressive offerings. While Intel’s decisions haven’t been uniformly disastrous, AMD’s integrated graphics have revolutionized gameplay, as the onboard Radeon RX 780M GPU has demonstrated its value in our recent evaluation of the Geekom AX8 Professional.
The Geekmon A9 Max boasts an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 processor, which, according to Geekom, promises to elevate your experiences to new heights. The HX 375’s upgraded Radeon 890M GPU delivers impressive performance, capable of exceeding 100fps in Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p and medium settings, while FSR-enabled gaming in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p and low settings easily surpasses 60fps. It’s impressive that such a compact computer can deliver efficient performance.
It’s not intended to entirely dismiss the affordability of Intel. While it may not match the exceptional performance of the AMD model, the Geekom IT15’s Core i5 processor, capable of reaching up to 4.2 GHz, still delivers decent processing power. The larger sibling, the 285K, boasts impressive performance, capable of achieving over 100 frames per second in popular games like Overwatch 2.
Geekom will also showcase its Snapdragon X Elite mini PC, previously featured by us. This would be the first mainstream PC to feature a Qualcomm chip, marking a significant shift away from Intel and AMD processors, as Qualcomm’s Arm-based chips have yet to gain widespread adoption in the desktop market. With additional investments, there is promise that the gaming industry’s entry point will make significant strides in leveraging the Arm chip as a dominant force.
Both AMD and Nvidia are expected to unveil their latest GPU offerings at CES 2025, including the highly anticipated RTX 5090, with a focus on the mini PC market’s potential for future upgrades.
