Roblox users now have access to a cutting-edge way to connect with friends while playing their favorite games. Starting Monday, users accessing the gaming platform will notice a fresh approach to real-time communication with the introduction of Meetup. The suite of options is set to introduce new social features to Roblox, including group chats, while replicating the high-performance capabilities of Discord directly onto the Roblox platform.
Before the introduction of Get Together, Roblox users had to communicate with friends outside the platform to organize playdates. While many Roblox games come equipped with integrated chat features, these chat windows often exist in a shared space on the server and may close once you leave a game. Gathering together, friends will be able to collaborate with up to six players simultaneously as they immerse themselves in immersive multiplayer experiences on the popular online platform, Roblox. At its launch, the brand new features exclusively facilitate text-based communication; a future update from the company will introduce voice chat capabilities within the in-game application.
The get-together is unlikely to be accessible to all Roblox users. According to Roblox Corp.’s Vice Chairman of Product, Garima Sinha, Get Together will only be accessible to accounts labeled as 13 years or older.
