Splitgate enthusiasts, the wait is almost over: the upcoming sequel to the globally acclaimed shooter has opened registration for playtesting!
Occasionally, a surprise shooter will emerge, seemingly materializing out of thin air, leaving onlookers stunned. In 2021, Splitgate’s indefinite beta testing continued, building upon several years of early access since the game’s inception. Twelve months later, upon the full launch of the sport, developer 1047 Games announced a surprising decision: they would cease feature development on the Halo-meets-Portal shooter due to their shift in focus towards a sequel built in Unreal Engine 5.
The information was publicly disclosed previously this year, with a planned release window set for some point in 2025. As officially announced on the game’s Twitter account, interested players are invited to sign up for the upcoming playtest.
“Get ready to dominate in the upcoming Splitgate 2! The latest playtest is here, so gear up and get set for an action-packed experience.” The workforce has been preparing something explosive and we’re eager to gather your input. To participate, follow a straightforward online registration process: simply enter your answers on a Google form, which will ask questions about when you first started gaming, the latest titles you’ve played, what platform you use, and so forth.
One notable factor is that the application asks for your Steam and Discord handles, likely to facilitate the testing process in those platforms; however, if you’re a private individual, you might need to opt out of this specific test.
In September, Connor had the opportunity to converse with 1047 Games’ CEO about keeping the game feeling fresh and taking cues from successful titles like Halo Reach.
