Kadokawa Corporation, the majority stakeholder in developer FromSoftware, behind franchises like Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls, has revealed receipt of a non-binding proposal from Sony to acquire its shares in the company. Despite this, no decision has been made regarding whether the former corporation will elevate the latter at present.
According to a Reuters report yesterday, discussions between Sony and Kadokawa are ongoing, with a potential agreement expected to be finalized within the coming weeks if these talks remain productive.
The news of Kadokawa’s replacement plan is disseminated via a press release from CEO Takeshi Natsuno, coinciding with a surge in share value within the firm as shareholders eagerly anticipate potential mergers and acquisitions, a scenario that would undoubtedly resonate with financial experts trained to thrive on such opportunities.
Notwithstanding certain articles circulating regarding Sony Group Inc.’s acquisition of Kadokawa Company (referred to hereafter as ‘the Firm’), it is essential to note that this information has not been officially disclosed by the Firm itself. The firm has obtained a preliminary letter of intent regarding the acquisition of its own shares, although no final decision has been reached at this time.
