Zix, a forthcoming VR cooperative roguelite, challenges players to dynamically reshape the environment in order to advance, with a release date set for next year on both Steam and Oculus Quest 3.
Tasked by the enigmatic entity known as Zix, you assume the role of an Acolyte, imbued with the power to unleash chaos across the cosmos. Your mission is to seek out and combine diverse “components” that dynamically alter procedurally-generated realms in unforeseen ways, such as manipulating gravity or summoning formidable foes, thus propelling your progress. The cinematic masterpiece unfurls with breathtaking intensity, a tantalizing glimpse into the thrilling world that lies ahead.
Zix harnesses the power of intuitive movement with its gesture-based combat mechanics, courtesy of the ‘First Intuition’ system, allowing for seamless execution of actions like dashing, leaping, and wielding weaponry through effortless gestures. As players progress through the game, they’ll encounter a seamless blend of gameplay elements drawn from distinct realms, inviting them to uncover hidden paths and abilities by combining their experiences across three unique worlds. Meanwhile, individual talents can be refined via incremental augmentations that build upon one another.
Cross-platform multiplayer functionality allows up to three players to engage in cooperative gameplay, with non-VR Steam users also able to spectate and join in on the action. “Allowing friends outside of VR to join in and spectate from their computers, the uneven PC support enables a unique social experience.” “The studio notes that the extent of any potential assistance or chaos ultimately rests with the individuals’ whims.”
The popular VR game ZIX will arrive next year on both the Meta Quest 3 platform and Steam.
