According to Deadline, the newly announced trilogy is rumored to be comprised of episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga, which began with George Lucas’s 1977 iconic film, effectively making it a sequel to the final trilogy of recent films that garnered mixed reviews.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new trilogy is not intended as a direct continuation of the Skywalker saga, but rather a standalone series featuring a fresh cast of characters and a contemporary narrative.
