Following a resounding launch earlier this year, it quickly became apparent that developer Pocketpair aimed to leverage the game’s initial momentum by porting it to multiple platforms. Following its recent PS5 launch worldwide, excluding Japan, the open-world survival title appears poised to make a mobile debut.
Krafton and Pocketpair have reached a licensing agreement to develop a mobile version of the game, paving the way for its global expansion. PUBG Studio is set to develop the game, as revealed by Krafton, which aims to “faithfully reimagine and adapt the most enjoyable aspects of the original for a mobile setting.”
This marks a new milestone in Pocketpair’s collaborations with third-party innovators to boost intellectual property. In February of this year, the company launched Palworld Entertainment in partnership with Aniplex and Sony Music Entertainment, aimed at expanding the reach and value of its intellectual properties.
In September, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a lawsuit against Pocket Pair for alleged patent infringement. To support the growth of innovative independent game developers, Pocketpair is committed to removing barriers and fostering an environment where creatives can flourish without hindrance.
