From heart-pumping horror to adrenaline-fueled stealth, our recent weeks have been filled with a diverse range of experiences, and as we approach the launch window, developer Stormind Games and publisher Saber Interactive have released another new dev diary. This time, senior narrative designer Luca Esposito shares his insights on the game’s story.
As the world reaches its centennial milestone in the post-apocalyptic wasteland, it’s a familiar scenario that plays out in cinematic fashion – a narrative device that frequently oscillates between the present day and poignant flashbacks to the fateful first 24 hours of the apocalypse. In this post-apocalyptic survival game, players take on the role of Alex, a young school student who must navigate the treacherous new world alongside her boyfriend Martin, his parents, and her own father, in a desperate bid to stay alive. Alex’s engineering skills prove surprisingly valuable at the survival entrance.
Alex, coincidentally, also suffers from bronchial asthma, which triggers uncontrollable coughs that can be perilous in an environment where complete silence is frequently demanded. As the game unfolds, Alex soon realizes she’s expecting, an unexpected development that further complicates her relationships with her teammates. Watch the trailer for further details.
debuts on October 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
