Last year, the Pokémon Company hosted a contest for fans of the franchise to submit their artwork, with the winning entry being turned into an official Pokémon Trading Card Game card, and the creator would also receive a $5,000 prize. The results of the competition have finally been announced, revealing Kazuki Minami as the winner for his exceptional Pikachu artwork, which stands out as one of the most impressive I’ve had the pleasure to behold. Despite initial reservations, one judge found the artwork “tough to ignore” due to its unique take on the popular Pokémon, Pikachu, in the context of this contest’s theme. They were impressed by the artist’s bold and unflinching portrayal of Pikachu’s mundane daily life as a wild creature.
