The live-action reimagining of the popular 2000s sitcom Everyone Hates Chris finally has a release date announced.
Despite having been out of favour for quite some time, people continue to harbour strong resentment towards Chris Rock in his latest performance. The premiere date has finally been set for the series, along with a first look at the show, which can be seen in the image atop this page. The animated sequence is scheduled to premiere on September 25 at 10pm ET, but its marketing campaign has been disappointingly low-key, with no trailers released yet – a fact that raises concerns given the approaching deadline.
In a bold departure from traditional biopics, the animated series takes a semi-autobiographical approach to exploring the life of renowned actor Chris Rock, who not only stars in but also executive produces this innovative project. Chris will again narrate the present, this time as an adult reflecting on his life, with Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold reprising their roles as Julius and Rochelle, Chris’ parents. Tyler James Williams’ youthful energy makes him an unlikely subject for a childhood CGI version, given his current focus on personal growth and development; instead, consider casting Tim Johnson Jr. as the young Chris. Can they change him?
The animation studio has a proven track record, having worked on various projects such as Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Scavengers Reign, as well as video games like Hello-Fi Rush, suggesting that their expertise lies firmly in the realm of high-quality animated content.
