Following a series of significant revisions to its launch plans, including an expedited early entry launch, Stoic Studio showcased new gameplay footage and details during Xbox’s day two Gamescom stream, providing a deeper look at their highly anticipated co-op 2.5D action role-playing game.
As expected, the footage displays a wealth of fighting action, setting a promising tone as high-energy combos unfold swiftly throughout. In this cooperative experience, the potential for chaos is vast, as the capacity to pilfer teammates’ kills adds a layer of complexity and strategy to the gameplay.
The gameplay footage culminates in an intense boss battle against the formidable Pangojira, a massive pangolin-like monstrosity that unleashes a flurry of punishing attacks, including hurling large boulders, summoning smaller minions that burrow from beneath the ground to deliver devastating blows, and pounding the earth, sending shockwaves through the battlefield.
A fresh layer of complexity is introduced as each boss now features a break bar beneath its health, providing a tangible indicator of vulnerability. As this bar depletes due to damage, it rapidly stuns the boss, creating a window of opportunity for devastating counterattacks. Meanwhile, landing efficient hits and combos effectively refills your weapon meter, enabling you to unleash specific abilities once fully charged.
Therapeutic in therapeutic mode allows for strategic teamplay, where teammates are robotically respawned by their Umbra companions, but with a limited number of respawns per squad. Once depleted, downed players must be revived by other players, a process that can divert attention and leave the team temporarily vulnerable to attacks.
Witness the thrilling gameplay action unfold in the timestamped video below.
Will debut on PC via early access on September 10, preceding its arrival on Xbox Series X/S at a later time. By 2025, the sport is set to debut in its entirety on all platforms, with a predicted transition to a free-to-play model.
