NetherRealm Studios has wrapped up its roster of DLC fighters with the addition of Takeda, but the developer is already working on Year Two content for the game. At San Diego Comic-Con, the developer is set to unveil further details at a panel discussion taking place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
Earlier than that, Ed Boon, co-creator and sports director of the Mortal Kombat collection, hinted at what fans could expect, including “continuing” the story, “future fighters,” and “big surprises.” The first hints point towards a reveal of previously announced paid DLC, which is expected to launch this year. While further details remain unclear, Boon hinted last year that this could resemble a growth-oriented initiative.
Reports suggest that data mining has led to speculation about the introduction of veteran characters from the Mortal Kombat series, including Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor. The visitor characters are expected to personify T-1000, Ghostface, and Conan from the Terminator series. What may the surprises be? Let’s see what unfolds!
